Employee Benefit Plans face new wave of ACA Reform requirements in 2013 & 2014

The Affordable Care Act (ACA) was signed into law on March 23, 2010.  As ACA health insurance reform provision implementation continues to roll forward each year following the enactment of this historic legislation, years 2013 and 2014 will see the bulk of the change implemented.  Some key change factors affecting employers and insurers include:

Year 2013

  • W-2 reporting of health insurance costs
  • PCORI Fees
  • Contribution limitations on health FSAs
  • Written notice to employees of the health insurance exchanges.

Year 2014

  • Health Insurance Exchanges
  •   Individual Mandate
  •   Guaranteed Issue
  •  Community Rating
  •   Medicaid Expansion
